Meet the True Martha Coakley

This story needs to be told in its entirety.

Despite her gracious concession speech and her obvious defeat, I want to introduce you to the
real Martha Coakley. In doing this, I must inform you of the facts of a high profile case she mismanaged, and that her successor ultimately secured a conviction of the perpetrator.

I won't lie, this isn't a pretty story. And most people would tell me to let sleeping dogs lie, but
I will never allow such a vicious person to act like she is an innocent in a matter just because
she lost to her opponent, and seemed classy in her defeat.

Meet Keith Winfield. Police officer, father of two girls, son of a union representitive who was
soliciting funds for Martha's attorney general campaign.

On October 13, 2005 Keith's sister in law asked Keith and his wife, her sister, to babysit her 23 month
old daughter.

That afternoon, when the toddler’s grandmother stopped by to pick her up, she found the toddler crying, and the child refused to walk. After taking the baby home, the grandmother changed her diaper and noticed what she could only conclude was a severe diaper rash, according to a narrative of the case detailed in court documents.

When the toddler’s mother returned from work, the girl was still crying and in obvious pain. And when the mother changed her diaper, she, too, noted that the area was very red.

By 11 p.m., when the toddler’s mother once again changed her diaper, the redness had become alarming. “Her genital and anal area was bleeding, and her skin was peeling off,’’

The next morning, after her condition had worsened, the toddler’s mother took her to a Somerville pediatrician who referred her to Children’s Hospital and notified the Department of Social Services (now the Department of Families and Children), along with Melrose police. The toddler ultimately spent a month at Shriners Hospital for Children in Boston recovering from burns.

When asked she said, "Uncle burned me"

Her sick uncle raped her with a hot curling iron. The vaginal injuries this poor
child suffered were so bad that when the doctors were called to testify they BOTH needed
a break from the stand to compose themselves. This child has endured several incredibly
painful surgies to repair the devastation her uncle inflicted upon her, with a lffetime of future
surgeries just to make her more normal. She will suffer for the rest of her life.

So what happened to the filthy child rapist and sadist who did this to her?

Well two years after the allegations from both the mother and attending physitians, NOTHING.
Coakley did nothing, despite a grand jury recomendation that she do so.

In fact her office set this filth free for two years on his own recognizance, and this case
wasnt tried until a new attorney general took office, and the mother of the abused child
filed a lawsuit against the state for not prosecuting said offense.

Coakley said that her office did not ask for a dangerousness hearing - a proceeding in which prosecutors may request pretrial incarceration by arguing that the accused presents a danger to the community - because Winfield did not show any sign of being a repeat offender or sexual predator. (It would take another 15 months and a new DA, Gerard T. Leone Jr., before Winfield was convicted and sentenced to prison. Winfield appeared voluntarily for trial, generally meeting the terms of his release.)

The child's mother hired famed attorney Larry Frisoli, who immediately felt there was something sinister in the handling of this case by Martha Coakley and her office. He was so disgusted by the handling of this case, including allowing a dangerous baby rapist out of jail until trial with no bond, that he opted to take dramatic action.

Frisoli was so alarmed by the mismanagement of what should have been an open and shut case, (other than the fact that the rapist's father was a union rep who funneled money to Martha) that he decided to run against Coakley. Coakley commented about Frisoli's campaign to the Boston Globe saying, "To me, it was a ploy and a political stunt to promote his own race for Attorney General," regarding Frisoli's campaign over this case. He ulitamately lost, but did force the new AG to bring Winfield in for trial.

During his trial, it was noted that Keith Winfield was treated for a substance abuse problem and had threatened to kill himself by holding a gun to his head, “evincing great emotional stress and the strong possibility that [he] would harm himself or others.’’

Winfield was found guilty on all four charges for which he’d been indicted in August 2006: two counts of rape of a child with force, one count of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury.

But it doesnt end there. During the reading of the verdict, Keith Winfield's brother jumped up and threatened the jury. He screamed, " “Are you fucking kidding me? Were you listening? There was no evidence! You should all DIE"

But their mother was no better and ran to where the family of the baby sat, and pointed at the victim’s mother screaming, “She did it! She did it!” Keith Winfield remained calm during the outbursts, showing no emotion whatsoever. Both the mother and brother were sentenced to 60 hours of community service.

Perhaps the saddest part of this whole drama is that the rapist's wife (the sister of the victim's mother) refuses to speak to her family and stands by her husband, despite the fact that they have two daughters together. They have not spoken since the guilty verdict in November, 2007. It's an entire family of sick individuals.

Now I ask you, what kind of monster allows a man who raped his 23 month old niece with a hot curling iron to walk the streets for two years, with no supervision whatsoever, just to solicit political funds from that beast's father?
